PATHWAYS TO LICENSURE

School Pathway

Training Hours: 150

The education pathway requires 150 additional hours of Board-approved advanced esthetics training beyond the education required for the underlying Esthetician license. An alternate qualification route is 1,800 hours of practice as an esthetician or cosmetologist in a licensed salon. Applicants must also pass the advanced examination.

Apprenticeship Pathway

This is an advanced-license pathway rather than an apprenticeship. Ohio permits qualification through either 150 additional advanced-training hours or 1,800 hours of licensed salon practice.
